Kayaking along the Big Lagoon of El Nido, Palawan

Kayaking along the Big Lagoon of El Nido, Palawan
Big Lagoon is a famous hotspot in El Nido known for its wonderful rock formation and alluring cerulean blue waters. What makes this further interesting is that you will need to kayak (or swim) your way to the inner area where the water slowly turns from a deep dark blue to a very inviting cerulean one.

Big Lagoon is part of the Tour A package, one of the four tours you can cross-off your bucket list here in El Nido, Palawan. In this blog post, I'd be doing mostly of a photo dump because these themselves will speak about the immutable beauty of the place.

The photos above were taken just a short distance from where we boarded the kayak. Boats are not allowed to go past this point because there are areas that are shallow and hence may damage the marine biodiversity.

As you kayak your way deeper into the Big Lagoon, the water gets shallower revealing its crystal clear beauty. At this point, you can offboard from your kayak and just enjoy the waters. You'd be able to take photos as well, and your tour guide will be happy to assist.

There are other parts of the Big Lagoon featuring narrow rock formations which you may pass-thru. However, note that the water in this section are stale (and with debris), but for all the other parts, you can expect clear waters.

If I can recall correctly, you have about 45 minutes to spare here in Big Lagoon, so you have ample time to kayak around and even swim/float around.

The very iconic picturesque part of the Big Lagoon is the one shared above, wherein the two rock formations seem to converge. It simply was breathtaking!
We were now back to kayaking, and our tour guide, Kuya Ivan, was eager to take group shots of us kayaking, and even instructed us various poses we can do. That was how supportive he was.

Big Lagoon Quick Guide

Things to see/do: Kayaking as you enjoy nature's grandeur - great view of prominent rock formation along with crystal clear waters. Alternatively, you may also do some snorkeling in some area here in the Big Lagoon. However, the primary and more preferred activity here is kayaking.

Budget needed: Access and related fees are inclusive of the Tour A Package. However, there is a rental fee of P300 for the kayak which accommodates two (2). Splitting that, the rate goes P150 per person.

Is it wander-worthy? Yes, this is one of the two great kayaking spots in El Nido, Palawan, and the view is simply breathtaking, and the cerulean sparkle of the waters are very much inviting.
